What are the differences between Hosting and Domain?

Updated on June 15, 2021

Domain names and web hosting are two different services, but they work together to make websites possible.

Web hosting is a service that provides you with specialized storage (known technically as web servers) where all your crucial website files and Webmail emails are stored and preprocessed.

As an analogy, a domain is a “land” on the Internet. Hosting (or Webhosting) is the “house” or space that accommodates your furniture and household items (website files).

We have different hosting packages (or hosting plans), but the package we would recommend for you is determined after accessing your website’s minimum requirements. However, that’s not the case with domains. For available domains, you are billed equally regardless of how big or small the website in view is projected to be. Domain name registrations don’t have different plans or packages like web hosting, but all domain TLDs don’t cost the same amount to register.
