If you bought or downloaded a premium WordPress theme, you’ll need to install it via the upload option from your WordPress dashboard.
Have you already downloaded the premium theme you intend to install? if not, download the theme from the Envato WordPress theme marketplace or website where you saw it. It is usually a .ZIP file.
Note: If it is a .RAR file, you’d first need to extract the .ZIP file before uploading it to your WordPress. Most themes come in .ZIP files, so you might not need to worry.
From your WordPress dashboard, go to Appearance > Themes and click Add New:
TIP: Make sure that you are installing a .ZIP file and not a .RAR file. If you had downloaded a .RAR file, you would need to extract the .ZIP file inside it for uploading to WordPress.
Next, click Upload Theme button to upload the ZIP file to your website from your computer:
Click Browse to select the zip file from your computer.
Then, click Install Now to add the theme to your website.
WordPress will install your premium theme on your website.
Lastly, click Activate to apply the theme on your website.
PRO TIP 1: Most WordPress themes come with theme documentation (Which can either be a web link or a PDF file) that contains instructions that you need to follow in order to navigate around certain theme-specific settings while using the theme.
PRO TIP 2: Most premium themes are pre-bundled with both required and recommended plugins. You will be prompted to install those plugins for the theme to work properly.
PRO TIP 3: Have you heard about Demo Content before? A Demo Content is a full-fledged website template that makes your website look fully developed. You would then need to edit the individual content and delete any unwanted pages, posts, comments, products, etc, by yourself. Most premium WordPress templates have a demo content importation procedure. Check your theme documentation if you can't figure it out from your WordPress Admin notifications.
